The setup

In Cabo, Danny spent one night with a stranger and left without a name or number. Three weeks later he arrives at his best friend Luke's house, and the woman who opens the door is Marisa, Luke's stepmom. She is cooking dinner, offering wine and introducing herself like a stranger, though both of them keep replaying the trip. Once Luke leaves the room, she explains her situation: her husband is traveling for several more weeks, and nobody in the family may ever learn the truth. Only episode 1 has subtitles, so the story stops at that arrangement.

Why it is worth the time

A secret that both sides share is more fun than one that only one side carries. The tight setup, the dinner-table small talk and the pressure of Luke in the next room make this a neat little thriller.

Best night for it

Suits a late evening with some patience, when you like a slow tension and a premise that is easy to pick up.
