The setup

Episode 1 opens mid-session. The studio is quiet, the instructor tells Jake to breathe into her hand, and he realizes who she is: his friend's mother. She answers that she knows exactly whose mother she is, and notes the sessions are paid for. Equipment is optional, she says, because she is the equipment. Tyler checks in cheerfully by phone, and she answers with a purr that Jake is in good hands. When Tyler turns up early for pickup, the door is locked. She tells Jake to come back tomorrow after closing, and he faces a choice that could cost him a friendship.

Why it is worth the time

The danger of getting caught gives every scene a ticking clock, and the instructor is wonderfully shameless. Short and snappy, with a nasty little cliffhanger when the door won't open.

A Friday evening with a friend who enjoys a cheeky premise, or alone with headphones for ten minutes.
