The setup
At a family dinner, Kate tells the table that her husband Dan could have a hall pass, since he would never use one. Everyone chuckles except Margot, her mother, who corners Dan in the kitchen and wonders if he would really use it. His no comes fast, and she looks more pleased by the refusal than a yes would have made her. From then on every refusal feels like a dare. Episode 2 keeps him polite and nervous while Margot finds small reasons to be near him and Kate keeps calling at inconvenient moments.
Why it is worth the time
Its fun is in the restraint: Dan keeps refusing, Margot keeps smiling, and the audience waits for one of them to give way. A mature, wry take on temptation, and the free part only simmers.
Best night for it
Works for a mellow evening when you prefer slow tension and clever dialogue over rushed action.
