The setup

The parents will be gone for days, and Cole has been told to keep an eye on his stepsister Kayla. She is at a protest rally when he honks his car horn to get her attention, which is the start of a long argument. She insists to her friend he is nowhere near her type, and he is caught staring at the wrong place more than once. Over the course of the week the teasing keeps getting less hostile. By the end of the first stretch, the neighbor has noticed, and she is interested in joining.

Why it is worth the time

The slow burn is the point: constant denial with growing evidence against it. The banter is quick and the dialogue runs hot, even when the scenes themselves stay merely suggestive.

Best night for it

An evening when you want banter, rivalry and a house to yourself, and you do not mind a longer simmer.
