The setup

Episode 1 is a quick scene at a coffee machine: a request for milk, a joke about how high the tip can go, and a small piece of banter that hints at something beyond service. By episode 2 the setup is clearer. A customer pesters Colette for her number at the counter, a regular warns the narrator that these baristas flirt for tips, and she brushes the pest off without drama. Outside, she spots our guy near her car, admits she would probably chase him too if he weren't dating her father's son, complains about the heat, and invites him in. Dad is out for the whole afternoon.

Why it is worth the time

The pull here is the dry banter and the sense that every sentence carries two meanings. Colette sets the pace, and the stakes are family, not only flirtation, which gives each exchange extra weight.

Best night for it

A weeknight break between chores. It moves fast, so it fits a tired brain that still wants a bit of mischief.
