The setup

The family gathers at a ranch, and Lea walks in on Jake, her freshly acquired step-cousin, in a room she thought was empty. Nobody here seems very bothered about the relation, since they are only sorta related, as he reminds her. Her boyfriend is outside admiring a colt and hardly notices what is going on. Jake is easy and cheeky. The parents notice how well the two get along and cheerfully arrange for him to show Lea around in the morning. Episode 2 is a hush-hush meeting while the boyfriend is somewhere close by, and the whole scene depends on keeping quiet.

Why it is worth the time

It is light and teasing, a sly farce built around one thin wall and an oblivious boyfriend. The comedy lives in the near misses, and the length is easy to fit around other plans.

Best night for it

Light enough for a lazy Sunday evening or a coffee break, and easy to share with someone who likes winks over plot.
